Servants of God Ministries
VISION– Servants of God Ministries (SOGM) is a Catholic Charismatic ministry established to bring people to Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior, and to foster a personal relationship with Him.
MISSION – To provide evangelistic outreach to those within the Ministry Group, St. Nicholas Parish, our community, and to anyone throughout the world by bringing people to Christ, being a channel of love and grace for others, helping people to grow in holiness, helping people to yield to the action of the Holy Spirit in their own lives and in the service of others, and to give praise to God in all things.

Holy Name Society
The Holy Name Society is comprised of all the men of our parish who enjoy working with each other.
The Society sponsors projects for the school and parish by hosting three annual still board shoots on the first Sundays in November and December. The men meet as needed in order to organize the shoots and discuss what projects to sponsor.

Pro Life Ministry
The mission of the Pro-Life Ministry is to promote a “culture of life” where all people are regarded as sacred gifts from God from the moment of conception to the moment of natural death.
The Pro-Life Ministry seeks to spread the Catholic Church’s teachings on issues that are pervasive threats to human life, such as: abortion, infanticide, euthanasia and capital punishment. In so doing, it seeks to protect all stages of human life and to promote human dignity. It does this by implementing the efforts of the U.S. Bishop’s Pastoral Plan for Pro-Life Activities, which include: prayer, educational events, awareness of public policy, campaigns and charitable activities.
ACTIVITIES AND VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES
Listed below are some of the ongoing activities at St. Nicholas and volunteer opportunities:
Life Chain: A one-hour nationwide prayer vigil and visual display of support for life. Mass-produced signs with positive messages supporting life are passed out to those who want participate and pray for an end to abortion. It is held along State Route 101 and 350 in Milan.
40 Days for Life: A prayerful, peaceful gathering outside of Planned Parenthood facility on Auburn Avenue in Cincinnati. Prayers are offered up for pregnant women seeking abortions to choose life for their unborn babies. This campaign runs in the Fall and Spring for 40 Days. March for Life: An annual pro-life rally held in Washington D.C. on January 22, the anniversary of the Supreme Court’s ruling of Roe vs. Wade. Each year two bus loads of students and adults travel to Washington DC to participate the annual March for Life. See our bulletin for details or contact the Parish Office – 812-623-2964. Jail Ministry
This ministry goes to the Ripley County Jail on the fifth Saturday or Sunday of the month. This jail houses men and women.

Homebound Ministry
The gift of life, God's special gift, is no less beautiful when it is accompanied by illness or weakness, hunger, loneliness or old age. At these times human life gains extra splendor as it requires our special care, concern and reverence. It is indeed in and through the weakest of human vessels that the Lord continues to reveal the power of God's love.
Members of St. Nicholas parish regularly minister to those who are unable to leave their residence (for short or long term) by providing regular pastoral visits and the reception of Holy Communion. Homebound visitors provide support to homebound persons through their presence and careful attention.
Pastoral visits are an opportunity to make God's presence immediate and real to the homebound person through prayer and the reception of Communion.

The “Mission” of the El Salvador Mission Trips is to bring the love of Christ to the people of El Salvador by being present with them, praying with them, and loving them!
This mission is carried out in various ways – visiting homes; praying, listening, singing, dancing, & laughing with the Salvadorans; playing and interacting with the children and teens; helping prepare and serve meals for the elderly; joining them for Masses or other prayer services; and participating in parish or community activities or celebrations. The mission teams primarily visit the people in their homes and pray with them. They also visit, join in, and/or pray with the Salvadorans anywhere – at church, celebrations, etc. With the house visits, the mission teams may venture out in the wilderness or walk through a small community. Sometimes the trek is on dirt roads or paths and through hills and valleys. This enables the missioners to see firsthand how the people live - giving a good sense of the Salvadorans’ poverty, living conditions, struggles, the importance of family & God to them, and to experience their amazing faith and hospitality.
